Dear Mr. Kim,

We were startled to learn that your government repatriated a Chinese Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wu, on July 1. And, your government rejected the refugee application of another 31 Falun Gong practitioners, and they are likely to be repatriated as well.

You may have heard about the ongoing massive brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. The ground for their application for refugee status to escape persecution in China appeared to be well founded.

Falun Gong is a Chinese spiritual discipline for mind and body, with the principle of “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.” Falun Gong not only improves practitioner’s health and morality, it has an immeasurable effect on maintaining order in society, however implicit. Therefore, there have been nearly 100 Million practitioners in China and numerous practitioners worldwide.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP,) being atheist, launched the largest and most ruthless religious persecution in the world and in the history in 1999 against Falun Gong because of its popularity.

Over the ten years since then, almost 100 million Falun Gong practitioners have been sent to jails, labor camps and mental hospitals, and being inhumanely tortured. More than 3,200 were persecuted to death. More despicably, some practitioners’ organs were forcibly removed for sale while they were still alive, and their bodies cremated to eliminate the evidence. And this is still happening every day in China.

Facing such life-threatening situation, many Falun Gong practitioners in China left their homeland for democratic and humane countries like Korea, seeking for safety and freedom.

We are sincerely appealing to your government to grant the refugee status to these 31 Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. Your consideration and assistance will enable them to escape from persecution in China by the CCP. Falun Gong practitioners and many kind people around the world will highly appreciate your kindness and be forever indebted to you.
